Please remember that no checks are released until we have 100% accountability on those forms, district-wide. Once you have met with your buyer and gotten their signature, return the form to Mrs. Phillips as soon as possible so that we can officially close the file on Lake’s end of the CCISD Show Checklist.

Week 25
Posted By: Mitch Robinson   3/12/2021

Good Morning,

Here are our updates leading us into Spring Break:

West Barn Water Situation

The Clear Creek ISD Career and Technical Education Department and Maintenance Department met yesterday to further discuss the importance of the work that is needed within the West Ag Facility.  As a result of this meeting, we have a clear understanding of the work that was already scheduled to begin today as supplies became available.   Please see below for a detailed break down of items in need of repair as well as game plans to bring the West Ag Facility back on line completely.

•             Water to the interior cattle pens has been restabilized, students can begin using water faucets in their pens to fill water buckets.

•             Aedile Plumbing is on site repairing the RPZ Backflow preventer that feeds the pig pens first, they will work to get 1 row of stalls fully operational first. (ROW CLOSEST TO THE LAMB/GOAT BARN)  Pigs may need to be moved to this row if automatic water is desired.

•             If Aedile is able to repair the above mentioned RPZ, then he will install the new one by the main entrance that feeds the goats/lambs.  He will then install a hose bib that we will use to feed 4 hoses-one for each row of pens in that area.

•             Aedile, will be installing a hose bib on the cattle pole barn with hoses to help with filling water buckets in those stalls.

•             Aedile also plans to try and get wash racks running in the immediate future but this will be more time consuming as the main feeds are much higher and require significantly more time.

•             We will also work to get water to the pasture cattle area. This will  be a couple of hoses for now with permanent repairs coming later.

The goal is to get as much water on as fast as possible without having to rework everything.

As additional materials arrive,  Aedile will start replacing all piping to the goat/lamb pens.  It is being projected that the lamb/goat re-pipe could be completed early next week depending on material availability.  At that time, Aedile plumbing should be able to get wash racks back up and running.  Next, they will finish repairs on the outside cattle barn, and finally Aedile will then circle back to the remaining pig pens and complete installation

Thank you to everyone for your continued patience as we continue to recover from this unfortunate event.

CCISD Livestock Show Checks

As of this moment we cannot guarantee the exact date for CCISD Livestock Checks. Our current hold-up are the arrival of Buyer Pictures (Which should be delivered today). Once these are all in our possession we will hold a Thank You Card Writing day for all exhibitors in which they will write their respective thank you card(s), get their buyer picture & frame, buyer’s address / contact information, and thus be able to deliver those items to their buyers. At delivery each exhibitor will need to get their buyer’s signature and return that to us here at school. Once all students have certified that they have dropped off buyer thank you cards we will then be able to ask the ESC to print checks. Once this is completed the ESC will print checks and mail them to the address that the student listed on their W-9. The quicker that we ae able to accomplish each of these hurdles and finalize a complete request, the faster we should be able to get payments processed.

Barn Keys

We still have a very significant number of barn keys that have not been returned. I will continue to collect them, but those that have not turned in barn keys by Friday, 26 March 2021, we will submit those names to the fees & fines list to recoup the cost of those keys and have them replaced. If you have keys out and you are aware of their location, please bring them to me as soon as possible.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Madelyn Moye & Isabella Donald will be showing their steers at Houston on this upcoming Monday and Thursday. Though spectators other than wristbanded parents are prohibited, we encourage all to tune in to the HLSR livestream and watch them as they show.

We hope that each of you have a safe and relaxing Spring Break. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at your earliest convenience.

Very Respectfully,

Mitch Robinson

Week 24
Posted By: Mitch Robinson   3/5/2021

Good Morning,

Here are our updates for this week, please let us know if you have any questions.

2021 Galveston County Fair

As I had mentioned earlier in the week, the show schedule and procedures for the Galveston County Fair have been changed for this year. The FFA Website calendar has now been updated to reflect the new adjustments and times for all of our events. The website calendar can be accessed at: https://clearlake.ffanow.org/AETcalendar.aspx?ID=11896.

Houston Livestock Show
Good luck to our exhibitors showing at the Houston Livestock Show over the course of the next two weeks. Goats will be going in tonight, steers and scramble steers next week.

2021-2022 CCISD Steers

We have selected our breeder, Mr. John Scales, and have set dates for delivery and selection of 2022 CCISD Livestock Show. For those wanting to purchase a calf for the show money ($2,070) will be due by Wednesday, 5 May 2021 and steer selection will take place on Wednesday, 19 May. Please adjust your calendars accordingly.

Barn Keys

We still need to collect barn keys from the following students. Please try to get these turned in no later than next Friday, 9 March.

*Denise Alvarado             *Jacy Brockway

* Casey DuBose                *Calliope Frank

*Luke Stilwell

*Jazlynn Garcia

*Delilah Garcia

*Braxten Sterling

*Madilyn Tran

2021 Daisey Day

Though Daisey Day is a huge and revered tradition at CLHS, due to COVID protocol and logistical issues we will not be holding Daisey Day at the traditional time of the Friday before Spring Break (Next Friday). Mr. Drake has asked that we standby as administration is working to overcome the obstacles that we have before us. They are planning to attempt Daisy Day on a different date in the near future.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!
